In September, the Landmarks Preservation Commission put the Morningside Heights Historic District on its calendar. The next step, a public hearing, was held on Tuesday, and dozens showed up. While there was some opposition, most who spoke rose to support designation of the proposed district.
Construction is now eight stories above street level on the 88-story, 391-unit residential tower under development at 15 Hudson Yards, located on the corner of West 30th Street and Eleventh Avenue, in the Hudson Yards district. Progress on the tower can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. Building permits indicate the 910-foot-tall project will eventually measure 980,274 square feet.
Façade installation is wrapping up on the 12-story, 33-unit mixed-use building under development at 100 Barrow Street, located on the corner of Greenwich Street in the West Village. Progress can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums by Tectonic. The latest building permits indicate the project encompasses 82,638 square feet and stands 121 feet to its roof, not including mechanical elements. The residential units, condominiums, will spread across the ground through 12th floors, averaging 2,209 square feet apiece. Toll Brothers City Living, in partnership with Church of St. Luke in the Fields, is the developer and Barry Rice Architects is behind the design. The project is located within the Greenwich Village Historic District and is protected by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Occupancy of 100 Barrow can probably be expected in early 2017.
The blocks near the Barclays Center are filled with new construction, from townhouses to skyscrapers. Today, construction chronicler Tectonic brings YIMBY an update on The Hendrik, a modestly sized, brick-clad condo project that’s taking shape at the corner of Third Avenue and Pacific Street in Boerum Hill.
Foundation work is underway on the 25-story, 31-unit mixed-use building under development at 1 Beekman Street, located on the corner of Park Row in the Financial District. The work can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. In September, YIMBY revealed renderings of the project, which is set to encompass 95,285 square feet and rise 299 feet in height to its main roof. Adding the bulkhead brings the tower’s pinnacle to 335 feet. The first four floors will contain 14,583 square feet of commercial space, with retail on the ground floor and offices on the upper three. The residential units, which will be condominiums, are spread across the sixth through 22nd floors. Urban Muse is the developer and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners is the design architect. SLCE Architects is serving as the executive architect and completion is expected in early 2018.
