Hotel construction is heating up fast in the South Bronx, and thanks to a YIMBY reader, we have a look at two projects going up in Mott Haven near the Harlem River waterfront. The first is an nine-story hotel at 500 Exterior Street, which fills a long-empty lot between Exterior Street and Gerard Avenue along 146th Street, next to the Major Deegan Expressway.
It’s unusual to see thoughtful design for manufacturing space, but that’s exactly what YIMBY has here with this glass and steel structure coming to 50-02 97th Place, which will replace a low-slung warehouse in Corona, Queens.
Just about one year ago, YIMBY reported on permits for a new six-story residential building at 75 Ralph Avenue, in Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy. Now, we can reveal the project, which will be surprisingly attractive; Charles Mallea is the architect, and Solomon Feder of 75 Ralph LLC is the developer.
YIMBY found this schematic on the fence at 44 Kent Street near the waterfront in Greenpoint, where construction recently began on a six-story building. It will rise 70 feet into the air on an empty, block-long lot on West Street between Kent and Greenpoint Avenue, a few hundred feet from the East River.
1444 3rd Avenue [A Fine Blog]: Filed in Summer 2014, renderings from ODA Architecture have resurfaced for a planned 10-story, nine-unit mixed-use building measuring nearly 25,300 square feet at 1444 3rd Avenue, on the Upper East Side. Demolition is underway to remove the existing four-story building.
