Proposals now under review by the Department of City Planning reveal a new retail building and the enlargement of two existing buildings within Staten Island’s Tysens Park Shopping Center. Located at 2712 Hylan Boulevard, the Tysens Park Shopping Center occupies 12.5 acres or approximately 546,000 square feet. The property comprises eight single-story commercial buildings and 731 accessory off-street parking spaces.
The latest acquisition by Camber Property Group brings affordability protections to 60 apartments in Harlem, Manhattan. The Johanna Apartments, acquired for $30 million, consists of a 100 percent Project Based Section 8 property across four buildings on West 144th Street, just a block from the 145th Street subway station.
The affordable housing lottery has launched for 65 Graham Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Bricolage Designs, the structure yields 5,567 square feet with eight residences and both commercial and community facility space. Available on NYC Housing Connect are three units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $75,258 to $167,570.
Façade work is continuing to progress on St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, a reinforced concrete structure atop the elevated Liberty Park in the Financial District. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the church is found near the intersection of Greenwich Street and Liberty Street and sits above the eastern half of the vehicle security center for the World Trade Center.
Construction has topped out on 141 East Houston Street, a ten-story mixed-use office building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Roger Ferris + Partners and developed by East End Capital and K Property Group, the 68,000-square-foot structure will yield office space as well as retail on the ground floor and two cellar levels. The property is located between Forsyth Street to the west and Eldridge Street to the east on a plot that was formerly occupied by the Sunshine Cinema.
