Excavation Commences At 500 East 14th Street, Extell’s 7-Story Mixed-Use Project, East Village

Excavation and drilling have commenced at Extell Development’s site spanning 500-524 East 14th Street (excluding No. 520), in the East Village, EV Grieve reports. A number of single-story retail structures were demolished to make-way for the two-building, seven-story mixed-use development, which will eventually have 150 residential units and 56,610 square feet of retail. Wired revealed renderings earlier today of Bjarke Ingels’ fantastic vision for 2 World Trade Center, also known as 200 Greenwich Street. Last week, News Corp. and 21st Century Fox signed a letter of intent to lease 1.3 million square feet at Silverstein’s 2 World Trade Center, in the Financial District, which would warrant the building’s redesign by BIG and eventual construction.

Steel-Beam Construction Underway At 100 Norfolk Street, 12-Story Condo Project, Lower East Side

Steel beams have been erected up to the second floor of Adam America’s and Horizon Group’s 12-story, 38-condo-unit mixed-use building at 100 Norfolk Street, on the Lower East Side. Bowery Boogie reports construction has been crawling along, and the project may not make its scheduled completion for 2016. The building is over 85% sold, according to REW, and 11,250 square feet of retail is planned. ODA Architecture is designing.

DHA Capital To Develop Mixed-Use Building At 75 Kenmare Street, Nolita

DHA Capital is in contract to purchase the three-story parking garage located at 75 Kenmare Street, in Nolita, for roughly $50 million, according to Bowery Boogie. The new owner plans to develop a 68,000 square-foot mixed-use building featuring luxury residential units and retail space. Most units will measure closer to 1,000 square feet, smaller than other new-construction condos in the area, according to The Real Deal, who was also the first to report the news.
