Wrapping up the year and YIMBY’s construction countdown, it comes as no surprise that Extell‘s Central Park Tower tops the list. The supertall will soon become New York City’s tallest residential building, and it will also have the highest roof of any structure in the Five Boroughs. The 1,550-foot-tall tower is being designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The site has previously gone by its address, 217 West 57th Street. The building has now surpassed its 90th floor, and currently stands over 1,300 feet atop 57th Street.
While the flashing marquee lights and LED billboards of 1568 Broadway continue to brighten the crossroads of the world, the light bulbs and digital screens will one day turn off as the building prepares for demolition. Plans for the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton call for an entirely new 46-story, 550,000 square foot building dubbed TSX Broadway. The 106-year old Palace Theatre will be the only part of the original site to be preserved, structurally elevated, and integrated into the $2.5 billion dollar redevelopment. L&L Holding Company, Maefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group are the developers who purchased the site for $450 million dollars.
Permits for two new four-story buildings at 1111-1115 Decatur Street were filed this week, and today, YIMBY has the first look at renderings. Located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the proposed residences are three blocks south of the Wilson Avenue subway station, serviced by the L train. According to the permits, owners for 1111 Decatur Street and 1115 Decatur Street are Chaim Landau and David Banda, respectively.
Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 435 West 48th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, the interior development site is directly across from the Clinton Community Garden. Hell’s Kitchen Park is steps away, on the corner of 9th Avenue and West 48th Street. Nearby transit access is provided courtesy of the 50th Street subway station and the C and E trains, at 8th Avenue. Dharshyni Peries of LLS Number 1 LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
111 West 57th Street is nearing the upper section of its topmost residential and mechanical floors. With a height to width ratio of 24:1, the SHoP Architects-designed tower will soon become the most slender building in the world. It is the 2nd-tallest skyscraper under construction in New York City, and will soon climb to an 1,438-foot-high pinnacle between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The supertall is being developed by JDS Development and Property Markets Group, and Douglas Elliman is in charge of sales and marketing for the 46 condominiums within.
