YIMBY has covered plans for a new office building at 1241 Broadway extensively over the past few weeks, first reporting on the applications and initial rendering, and then checking in on site progress. Today, we can reveal the updated current design thanks to developer Michael Kirchmann of GDSNY, who also told us all about the project and its burgeoning surrounds in an interview ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled for this morning. Sweden-based Klovern is also behind the plans.
New Day Management, the developers behind 188 Pulaski Street, have exclusively revealed new renderings of their four-story residential project to YIMBY. The building is on the rise in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The low-rise structure will eventually yield 3,799 square feet of residential area that will be divided into a modest assortment of five residences.
Permits have been filed for a 70-foot tall mixed-use building at 8902 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Located on the corner of 5th Avenue and 89th Street, the former car showroom and sales lot is three city blocks south of the 86th Street subway station, serviced by the R train. Under 8904 5th Ave LLC, Michael Marino is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Permits have been filed for a four-story drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility at 750 East 160th Street in Melrose, The Bronx. Located on the corner of Forest Avenue and East 160th Street, the lot is three blocks west of the Prospect Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Argus Community is listed as the owner behind the applications. The nonprofit works with the homeless community to heal substance abuse and mental health issues.
Flying under the radar for some time, excavation work on 159 Broadway Avenue is beginning to make some progress in Williamsburg. Today, YIMBY also has the first rendering for the impressively-scoped project, thanks to the construction fencing. Situated across from Peter Luger Steakhouse and immediately south of the Williamsburg Bridge, the site sits adjacent to the Williamsburgh Savings Bank. The 144-year old landmarked, domed structure will soon be surpassed by its future 133,340 square foot, 277-foot tall neighbor. This upcoming tower is set to become one of the tallest buildings in the neighborhood. It is being designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and is being developed by Cornell Realty Management LLC.
