Work has reached street level at 517 West 29th Street, a ten-story, 135-foot-tall condominium project in Chelsea. Designed by Ben Hanson Architect, with Rand Engineering and Architecture as the architect of record, and developed by Churchill Real Estate Holdings, the project will yield 56,160 square feet and 60 residential units, with nine outdoor parking spaces.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) will soon review updated proposals to redevelop an existing two-story warehouse into an 11-story commercial building at 29 Jay Street in Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects, the updated proposals refer specifically to the building’s facade and required mechanicals on the roof level.
Permits have been filed for a five-story residential building at 26-24 30th Street in Astoria, Queens. Located between Astoria Boulevard and Newtown Avenue, the interior lot is one block from the Astoria Boulevard subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Vincent Romano under the Janet Development LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The reinforced concrete core of 50 Hudson Yards is approaching the midpoint of its ascent to the supertall’s 1,011-foot parapet. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Oxford Properties and Mitsui Fudosan, the skyscraper will be the largest structure by volume in the first phase of Related Companies‘ Hudson Yards master plan, yielding 2.9 million square feet.
Foundation work is underway at 606 West 30th Street, a 545-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Also known as Tower B in a two-building development along with 601 West 29th Street, the 42-story structure is designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and is being developed by Lalezarian Properties. The property will yield 312,350 square feet, with 192,780 square feet designated to residential space and 14,240 square feet for commercial use. There will be 260 residences averaging 741 square feet apiece. Some of the homes are planned to be rentals, but the exact breakdown has not been revealed.
